The world’s first mosque constructed in Rabi-ul-Awwal
Did you know? The world’s first mosque, Masjid-e-Quba was constructed in the month of Rabi-ul-Awwal. Located on the outskirts of Madinah, it is the place where The Holy Prophet (PBUH) spent 14 days praying qaṣr (a short prayer) while waiting for Hazrat Ali (RA) to arrive in Madinah after the latter stayed behind in Makkah to carry out a couple of tasks entrusted to him by The Holy Prophet (PBUH) himself. Also, it is said that The Holy Prophet (PBUH) led his first Friday prayer here.
I had the privilege of visiting Masjid-e-Quba with my family on 2nd January 2019 and the experience I had of roaming and praying inside is unexplainable. Those who have visited will agree!
